Multiple individuals have been arrested in connection with the vandalism of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C.
The Reflecting Pool, which underwent a $14 million renovation, has faced issues including algae blooms and peeling paint shortly after its refurbishment. President Trump has claimed that vandals caused significant damage to the pool, alleging that they cut a gash in the pool's facade and introduced harmful chemicals into the water.
As of now, five people have been arrested for vandalism, and five others have received citations. Among those arrested is David Hearn, a former Olympic canoeist, who was detained after touching a piece of the pool's detached liner. President Trump has stated that repairs will begin immediately and has threatened long prison sentences for those involved in the vandalism.
