With fewer than 100 days until the November midterms, Republicans are reporting a substantial cash advantage over Democrats. The Republican National Committee (RNC) and its affiliated committees have a combined total of $657 million in cash, while the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and its counterparts report $334 million.
As of the end of June, the DNC had $16.3 million in cash but was facing $18.5 million in debt. In contrast, the RNC reported $128.5 million in cash with no debt. This financial disparity reflects ongoing challenges for the DNC, which has been in a cash crunch since the 2024 election.
The DNC's financial struggles are compounded by a lack of major super PACs comparable to the Republican-aligned Make America Great Again Inc., which has amassed over $400 million. DNC Chair Ken Martin has stated that despite the financial gap, the party has raised more money than any DNC without the White House in its history and is focused on long-term investments.
The financial disparity may impact the strategies and effectiveness of both parties as they approach the midterm elections, with Republicans poised to leverage their cash advantage for advertising and campaign efforts.
“The current DNC has raised more than any DNC without the White House in the party’s 198-year history.”
